This has been a long time coming! I’ve been working on this for months. Slowly, out of necessity… far too slowly. But it’s finally coming together, and I am very happy with the way it’s turning out. If you’ve been here before, you might notice that almost everything is entirely different! I assure you that some things have not changed. Lets just say that I felt it was time to move the furniture around and repaint the walls!
So what’s new? Well… the logo is now different. The site layout is similar, but the execution of it is all new. The gallery is different. All of the photos are different, except for a few that I consider to be my best and favorite from prior years. The blog is new… though it will take me a little bit of time to move the old content over to this new blog. That’s right; I don’t want to lose the old content. It’s funny, when I pour my soul, or my brain (which ever comes out first) onto the virtual page, I tend to get attached to it, so while I may trash a design, I hate to lose content. So… I’ll keep that.
I’ve made a few business-related changes as well, though nothing earth-shattering. Well… actually, let me take that back. I’ll let you be the judge. (I don’t think it’s earth shattering.) The Basic package is no more. I shot a couple of these last year, and what I found was that I really do not enjoy the album that came with it. I do not like the 10×10 format. I feel that the number of pictures that are crammed into it is very close to the 12×12 picture count, but they are smaller and more cramped. The package also did not include an engagement session. No more of that. If someone truly doesn’t want one, then we can take care of the necessary adjustments… but I will no longer offer a package out of the gate that does not include one. They are important. I’ll bring over my explanation/rant about them as soon as I can get the old content ported over. So when all was said and done, if I added an engagement session and the 12×12 album to the Basic Package… I got the Standard package. So there it is. We’re down to three offerings, and I feel pretty good about it!
Secondly, I’ve made the decision to change the way the web slide show offering works. This is an item that was found a la carte, or in the Premium and Ultimate packages. Previously, I would hand over a disc to the client, with some instructions on what to do with it… and that was that. But to tell the truth, I am not happy with that any more. I’ve spent a whole lot of time working on the web, and for me to host it is a trivial thing, but to someone who does not live and breath the internet… it could be a daunting task. I don’t want to saddle you guys with daunting tasks. So… “in order to make things easier… we’ve made changes” (you hear this every time you get stuck at one of those menus on the phone. Everyone is always changing stuff…) Introducing Show Me Blue. This is a new site that I am launching, in concert with the relaunch of this one. It’s where your web slide shows will live. So instead of putting it on you to find a way to host your show… I’ll do it for you. It’s just easier that way! And if you want to see what a web slide show is in the first place, feel free to browse around on that site! It’s still a work in progress, and will probably never be a full-fledged site of its own, but I think it will serve a purpose, and serve it well.
But anyhow. It’s very late now. I should probably take advantage of the opportunity to sleep!
